SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A 36-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, July 26, after he attempted to set fire to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department’s (SLTPD) American flag. 

According to a Facebook post from SLTPD, the man, a South Lake Tahoe resident, was just released following an arrest on Saturday, July 25, for possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication after he was reported shooting arrows at the Y. 

An El Dorado County sheriff’s sergeant notified SLTPD on Sunday that a male subject was attempting to light their station flag on fire after lowering it to the ground. The man was detained by SLTPD officers and booked at the El Dorado County jail for felony attempted arson.  

“The male has been arrested by SLTPD six times since April 2026 for Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest,” SLTPD said in their post.
