SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe advises the public that road construction is scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 2. Motorists should reduce speeds in work zones, watch for workers and equipment, anticipate delays, follow posted traffic controls, and use alternate routes where possible. We strongly urge motorists to avoid Pioneer Trail between US 50 (Lake Tahoe Blvd) and Ski Run Blvd during construction.

Pioneer Trail Pavement Treatment

Where: Pioneer Trail, between US 50 and Larch Avenue
What: Roadway surface treatment to extend the life of the pavement.

When: September 2, 3, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16
Work Hours: 7:30 am to 6:30 pm

Traffic Impacts/Detours: One-way traffic control for southbound will be in place. Northbound traffic will not be allowed during construction hours. Motorists should use alternate routes.

Pioneer Trail Pedestrian Improvement Project

Where: Pioneer Trail, between Larch Avenue and Ski Run Boulevard
What: Road Reconstruction and Paving
When: September 8 through October 2
Work Hours: 7:30 am to 6:30 pm (one lane will remain closed 24 hours a day)

Traffic Impacts/Detours: A 24-hour single-lane closure will be in effect for the entire duration of the construction period. Southbound traffic will be allowed through the work zone. Northbound traffic will be detoured at Ski Run Boulevard. Expect significant delays and use alternate routes. Thru traffic should consider using US 50 instead of Pioneer Trail

Al Tahoe Boulevard Pavement Treatment

Where: Al Tahoe Boulevard, between Pioneer Trail and US 50
What: Roadway surface treatment to extend the life of the pavement.
When: September 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16
Work Hours: 7:30 am to 6:30 pm

Traffic Impacts/Detours: Single-lane closures with two-way traffic and significant traffic delays are expected. Motorists should use alternate routes when possible. South Tahoe Middle School pick-up/drop-off traffic should use US 50 and avoid Al Tahoe Boulevard.

Construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
