FRESNO, Calif. — The Lake Tahoe Community College cross country teams hit the trail for the first time this season at the Clovis Crush Invitational hosted at Woodward Park.
Competing at the eventual site of the 3C2A State Championships in November, the men’s team captured ninth place out of 24 teams with a team score of 309.
Shanaya Tolby was the lone runner for the women’s team. The freshman from La Paz, Mexico, finished 5000 meters in a time of 22:12.01.
On the men’s side, sophomore Kyle Oltmanns paced the Coyotes, finishing 24th overall with a time of 21:22.42. He was followed closely by fellow sophomore Elijah Gilleland, who crossed the finish line in 41st place after clocking 21:37.68.
Jacob Manning and Alessandro Pimentel rounded out the top 100 for LTCC in a crowded, 263-person field. Manning, a sophomore, posted 22:19.29 to take 81st, while Pimentel, a freshman, ran 22:37.24 to finish 97th.
Richard Stites rounded out the scoring for the Coyotes with a time of 23:03.93.
LTCC’s next race is the NorCal Preview on Sept. 18 at Forebay in Oroville, Calif.
