ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. – George Whittell High School hosted the annual Lake Tahoe Cross Country Relay on Sept. 4 on the single-track trails surrounding the school. 11 schools from California and Nevada competed.
In the boy’s division, South Lake Tahoe senior Shamus Nealis defended his title and broke his own 2-mile record with a time of 11:04. Senior Lincoln Ayers was the top finisher from Whittell.
In the girl’s division, Keilana Rivas from Sacramento Adventist took the title with a new course record of 13:19. The top local finisher was South Lake Tahoe junior Madelyn Landy who finished third in 14:07.
In the boys’ team category, Bishop Manogue narrowly defeated South Lake Tahoe High School in a close fought competition. Douglas High School was 3rd.
In the girls’ team category, Bishop Manogue was 1st, followed by North Valleys High School and Douglas High School.
The next High School race will take place on Sept. 11 at North Tahoe High School.
