GREATER LAKE TAHOE AREA, Calif./Nev. – The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for the Lake Tahoe area starting Friday afternoon.

The service reports a lake wind advisory from 2-8 pm Friday, warning of waves 1-3 feet high on Lake Tahoe. The advisory forecasts southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

The service has also issued a wind advisory from 11 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, with southwest winds of 25-35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph below 7,000 feet. At ridgetops, gusts are expected to reach 80 mph.
