STATELINE, Nev. — Kahle Community Center is launching a new teen program that gives middle school students opportunities to explore the outdoors, try new activities and connect with their community. Designed for students in grades 6–8 throughout Douglas County and surrounding areas, the program will offer recreational, educational and cultural experiences on select Fridays.
Registration is now open for the first three outings, with additional activities planned in the coming months.
The inaugural outings include:
- Friday, November 6, 2026: A guided 2.9-mile hike with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, introducing participants to Leave No Trace practices and the beauty of the Tahoe Rim Trail.
- Friday, November 20, 2026: A teen pool day at Carson Valley Swim Center, offering swimming and an opportunity to connect with peers.
- Friday, December 11, 2026: An indoor climbing experience at Badger Mountain in Gardnerville, where teens can scale the walls, make friends and build confidence.
Future outings may include snowshoeing, curling, Nordic skiing, theatre arts, candle making, kayaking, museum visits, sailing, backpacking, archery, art courses, flying remote-control airplanes and ice fishing.
The program aims to introduce teens to activities they may not otherwise experience, encourage the discovery of new interests and help participants develop skills while exploring opportunities throughout the region.
Through partnerships with local businesses, organizations and recreational providers, Kahle Community Center hopes to expand access to unique experiences that encourage learning, personal growth and community engagement.
Local Businesses and Organizations Invited to Partner
Kahle Community Center welcomes local businesses, organizations and recreational providers interested in partnering on future teen activities.
