SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe (BGCLT) celebrated a milestone during its 33rd Annual Golf Classic Weekend, October 17-18, raising more than $120,000 to support local youth while celebrating 30 years of partnership with Edgewood Tahoe. The weekend brought together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and community members for two days of comedy, creativity, and golf.
Kicking off the weekend Saturday night, Joe Praino & Friends: Comedy Show & Dinner welcomed more than 50 guests to The Barrel Room in South Lake Tahoe. Attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner provided by MacDuff’s Pub before an evening of stand-up comedy featuring Joe Praino, Howie Nave, Pete Cestaro, and Matt Knudsen. The comedians kept the audience laughing throughout the evening, making for a fun start to the fundraising weekend.
The following morning, 144 golfers arrived at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course for the 33rd Annual Golf Classic. It was a beautiful Lake Tahoe fall day, providing perfect conditions for a round of golf. Golfers started their morning with complimentary bagels from Tahoe Bagel Co. and coffee while entering the on-site raffle and browsing the silent auction, both featuring prizes generously donated by local and regional businesses. They also had time to grab a Tahoe Blue Vodka bloody mary, warm up on the driving range, and pick up their boxed lunches, generously provided by Beach Hut Deli, before the tournament began.
Before golfers headed out for the shotgun start, Aimi Xistra, BGCLT Development Director, and Kathi Jensen, BGCLT Board President, presented Edgewood Tahoe with a 30 Years of Impact Award, accepted by Corinna Osborne, Edgewood Tahoe Chief Operating Officer. The award recognized three decades of Edgewood generously donating its golf course and facilities for the event, a partnership that has helped support generations of local children and teens.
“For more than three decades, Edgewood Tahoe has been proud to support the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe and its mission to create brighter futures for our local youth,” said Corinna Osborne. “Our longstanding partnership reflects our belief that being part of this extraordinary community comes with a responsibility to give back. As the Club celebrates 35 years of making a difference, we are honored to continue supporting its meaningful work for generations to come.”
Following the presentation, golfers headed out onto Edgewood’s beautiful course for an afternoon of friendly competition. On-course bars hosted by Tipsy Putt, FiftyFifty Brewing Co., Lake Tahoe AleWorx, Tito’s Vodka, Cold Water Brewery, and Proximo Spirits kept the festivities going throughout the day.
While golfers were out on the course, 14 guests gathered for the second annual Paint & Sip Luncheon at Edgewood Tahoe. The afternoon began with lunch at Brooks’ Bar & Deck before guests moved into a guided painting experience led by local artist Charlotte Castillo. Participants created their own fall landscape paintings while enjoying wine courtesy of Lava Cap Winery and taking in the beautiful autumn scenery.
At the conclusion of the tournament, golfers gathered in Edgewood’s North Room for an awards reception and taco bar, generously sponsored by Play Park Hotels and hosted by Edgewood Tahoe. The reception provided an opportunity to celebrate the day’s accomplishments and recognize the tournament’s top teams and players.
