Do Tell: Your Preferred News Source

Between traditional print publications, radio, local news stations, and social media, there is no shortage of places people can turn to to stay up to date.
So, where do locals go these days to stay informed?

This month’s question is: What sources do you most frequently use to stay informed and get local news updates in the Truckee/Tahoe area?

Paul McClane, Tahoe Donner
Physical Therapist

I get my local news mostly from the Sierra Sun. When we’re in the car, my wife will also turn on the Truckee news radio station, 90.5.

Kirsten Kaye, Sierra Meadows
Inventory and Logistics Coordinator, Nidecker

I get my news through Moonshine, Sierra Sun, or Court Leve. Court is a photographer that also works with various local organizations including Tahoe Truckee Litter Group, the Humane Society, chamber of commerce, etc.

Luke Lewis, Glenshire
Cross Country Mortgage

I get most of my news from Moonshine Ink, Sierra Sun, and Open Snow, but would love more online options. As someone in the mortgage industry, I also read Tahoe Quarterly for real estate news or monthly emails from real estate agents about events going on. Facebook groups, such as Glenshire Community Watch, are great for local happenings.

Dan Brounstein, Tahoe Donner
Strategist for medical device companies

I’ll get news through the Sierra Sun or through friends posting or sharing links on Facebook.

Ralph Backstrom, Prosser
Owner, Pacific Crest Coffee Co.

I mostly get news from talking to customers at Pacific Crest or word of mouth. Very occasionally I’ll look at the Truckee Tahoe People Facebook group.
