A Caltrans snow plow went off U.S. 50 and overturned near Chiapa Drive, just west of North Upper Truckee Road, at 3:57 a.m. Friday, March 2.

The plow was traveling eastbound when whiteout conditions quickly reduced visibility, causing the driver to cross the westbound lane and go off the north shoulder, according to CHP South Lake Tahoe. The driver received minor injuries including cuts to his face.

A portion of U.S. 50 was closed for approximately 80 minutes this morning. The road has reopened, but is expected to close again later today for a tow truck to remove the plow. A time has not yet been scheduled.
