South Lake Tahoe City Council will host a workshop intended to gather input on future cannabis regulations.
The meeting starts at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Beach Retreat & Lodge located at 3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The city booked the workshop at the Beach Retreat in order to allow for a larger crowd than what City Hall can accommodate.
Council decided to host the workshop at its Feb. 6 meeting, during which it heard regulatory recommendations from the city's 15-member cannabis committee — which council tasked with delving into all things cannabis and crafting recommendations. The committee suggested starting with a pilot program, which would allow some cannabis businesses to open under approved development agreements.
While council said it appreciated the work of the committee, several council members said there were elements within the suggestions that they disagreed with.
Among the planned points of discussion Wednesday will be cannabis uses and zoning, among other regulatory aspects.
Editor's note: A print version of this story that appeared in the Feb. 17 edition of the Tribune inaccurately stated the meeting would take place Wednesday. The meeting is on Tuesday.
