MEYERS, Calif. – This year marks a major milestone for The Getaway Cafe as owner Diane Guth celebrates 20 years in business serving the Meyers and South Lake Tahoe community with her signature blend of heartfelt hospitality and scratch-made comfort cuisine.

Since opening in 2006, The Getaway Café has grown from a small roadside eatery into one of the most beloved breakfast and lunch destinations in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Nestled along Highway 50 in the historic mountain community of Meyers, the café has become a go-to stop for locals, visitors, skiers, and road-trippers alike.

For Guth, the milestone represents more than longevity—it reflects a lifelong passion for hospitality that began at just 14 years old and evolved into a dream realized: creating a place “where friends and family feel at home and strangers quickly become friends.”

Over the past two decades, that vision has defined The Getaway Café experience. Known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and consistently high-quality food, the restaurant has built a reputation as a true community hub—where regulars are greeted by name, first-time guests are treated like family, and no one leaves hungry.

The café’s menu reflects Guth’s commitment to freshness and creativity, featuring scratch-made favorites like chilaquiles, eggs benedict, and the widely celebrated coconut-crusted French toast. From hand-formed burgers to house-made sauces and salsas, every dish is crafted with intention and care.

“Reaching 20 years is incredibly meaningful,” said Guth. “This café has always been about people—our staff, our customers, and this amazing community. Watching it grow into a place where generations gather is something I’ll never take for granted.”

Over the years, The Getaway Café has earned consistent recognition in regional “Best of Tahoe” awards and remains a cornerstone of the Meyers dining scene. But beyond accolades, Guth’s impact is measured in relationships—thousands of meals shared, countless celebrations hosted, and a deep-rooted connection to the Tahoe community she has called home since the early 1990s.

In honor of their 20th year, the Getaway will be doing giveaways all month long on their social media- make sure you follow them on Instagram and Facebook for a chance to win. After 20 years, one thing remains unchanged: The Getaway Café isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a place where Tahoe gathers.
