SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The coronavirus has claimed two more lives in El Dorado County.

Officials reported 465 new cases on Monday that includes four days worth of results, Friday through Monday, including the two deaths.

The two who passed away are both men 65 years or older, one is from South Lake Tahoe and the other is from Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz area. The county has now lost 10 residents to the virus, including five from the Tahoe region.

There are 21 in the hospital due to the virus, including six in intensive care units.

The greater Sacramento region, which includes El Dorado County, has a 16.2% ICU capacity, according to an announcement Monday morning from Gov. Gavin Newsom.

If the ICU capacity continues, the region may be able to move out of the state’s stay home order, but would shift back into the highly restrictive purple tier.

Of the new cases, just 76 are in the Tahoe region while El Dorado Hills has 118, there are 97 in the Cameron Park/Shingle Springs area and the greater Placerville area has 87 new cases. There are 49 cases awaiting address confirmation.

Officials announced 208 assumed recoveries bringing the active case count to 1,340.

In Douglas County, Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting there are 935 active cases, including 41 in Zephyr Cove and 57 in Stateline.

The county has had 12 virus-related deaths.

Washoe County Health District reported eight more deaths Monday to bring the count up to 419.

There are 13,574 active cases, including 76 in Incline Village.

Eighty-six percent of staff hospital beds are occupied, 73% of all licensed beds are occupied and ICU beds are at 64%.
