In this explainer, the Tribune compiles the basics voters need to know when voting by mail in Nevada.

When do ballots need to be postmarked?

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, Nov. 3, and received by 5 p.m. the 4th day after Election Day.

The Nevada Secretary of State recommends voters mail their ballots at least one week before Election Day to ensure it arrives on time.

All ballots come with a postage-paid return envelope and do not need stamps.

Voters may also drop off their mail-in ballot at a secure drop-off location, including a vote center, polling location or the clerk/registrar’s office. Ballots must be dropped off by 7:00 p.m. Election Day.

How to track your ballot.

Voters can track their ballot online at MyBallot.NV.gov by providing their name, date of birth and zip code.

If voter information is not found on the tracking website, voters can check their registration on VOTE.NV.gov.

What to do if there is an issue with your ballot.

Voters may contact the Secretary of State’s elections office or their county registrar of voters or election office with questions about their ballot.
