LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – Vail Resorts has announced the opening dates for its three Tahoe mountains.
Heavenly and Northstar are set to open for the 2026/2027 ski and ride season on November 20. Kirkwood follows on December 4. All opening dates are condition-dependent.
Three mountains. Three ways to winter.
HEAVENLY | Views. Vibes.
A jaw-dropping Lake Tahoe backdrop paired with high-energy après events. Expect scenic skiing, signature events, DJ sets, and plenty of reasons to stay at the mountain after the lifts stop spinning.
NORTHSTAR | Traditions, elevated.
Pristine groomers, dreamy snow days, champagne Tōsts, S’mores, and a vibrant village. Family traditions that come back every winter, plus new ones waiting to be made.
KIRKWOOD | Steep and Deep.
From cradle to grave, Kirkwood is for the die hards. No frills, just pow days, challenging terrain, and a tight-knit mountain community.
The Forecast
Could this be a big one? A possible Super El Niño is putting this winter on the radar. No one can promise what the weather will deliver, but we’re watching closely. Your move, Mother Nature.
Lock in Winter
Lock in the lowest price of an Epic Pass this fall by September 7. Whether you’re planning a handful of ski days, weekend getaways or a season spent chasing every storm cycle, Epic Pass provides significant savings compared to lift ticket prices and helps guests make the most of winter.
The Fine Print
Opening dates are conditions dependent and subject to change. Check resort channels (Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood) for the latest updates.
