SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Liberty continued its longstanding support of Bread & Broth on August 31, when four Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsor volunteers helped serve 152 Monday Meal guests and pack more than 120 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Jennifer Guenther, who manages government affairs for Liberty and coordinates the company’s Adopt A Day sponsorships, shared that Liberty’s community service program encourages all team members to volunteer. Currently, Liberty sponsors eight Monday Meals each year.

In addition to Jennifer volunteering at the August meal, her daughter Rio Guenther, along with Liberty team member Kevin Newmark and recently retired Cindy Kortan represented Liberty at their sponsorship meal. The Liberty team volunteers joined the B&B volunteers from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. helping with the dinner’s setup, packing food ‘giveaway bags, welcoming and serving the dinner guests, and closing out the meal event by helping with cleanup and takedown.

“It was a pleasure working with such friendly, dedicated volunteers,” shared Cindy. “We served generous portions of food to so many people in our community. The food was plentiful, and everyone was appreciative of the wonderful, delicious meal and the bags of groceries they received to take home.”

Thousands of community members have benefited from the meals served by Bread & Broth. As an all-volunteer, charitable organization and a ministry of St. Theresa Chuch, Bread & Broth has been providing hot meals since 1989. The dedication of its volunteers and the support of the community through donations and AAD sponsorships has been a major impact on those struggling with food-insecurity.
