Miguel Flores Chavez, Papa Mike, Don Miguel died peacefully in his home on November 1, 2019 at the age of 100.

Don Miguel lived an incredibly rich life. He was a generous soul that provided warmth, kindness, respect and showed true love to every human being that he touched. He always led by example creating, in his family, a greater sense of courage, a dedication to appreciating one another, and to living life in the moment. Don Miguel was a man of honor, highly respected and loved by his family, friends and the community he lived in for so many years. He loved the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains so much that he moved his family from Durango, Mexico to Truckee, California in 1963 so they could come enjoy life in the mountains.

Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and true friend. Survived by the woman he worshiped, his loving wife of 63 years, Socorro Chavez, children: Miguel and daughter-in-law Debbie, Alma and son-in-law Rafael, Maria and son-in-law Juan, Salvador and daughter-in-law Melany, Margarita and son-in-law Emilio, Jesus (deceased), Emigdio (deceased), Engracia (deceased), Ramiro (deceased) and Ramiro (deceased); grandchildren: Marco and granddaughter-in-law Tasha, Juan Carlos and fiancé Alisa, Michael, Jesse, Amanda, Victor and granddaughter-in-law Crystal, Daniel, Karina, Marcus, Sofia, Francisca and grandson-in-law Oscar, Vanessa, Araceli, Samuel, Arturo, Elisa, Nicolaza, Jaime, Francisco and Adriana; great grandchildren: Victor, Priscilla, Christian, Miguel, Jonathan, Viviana, Kameron, Konor, Jesse, Gabriel, Esmeralda, Cruz and Santino.

Viewing will be at 5:00pm and Rosary at 7:00pm on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Assumption Catholic Church, 10930 Alder Drive, Truckee; funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Assumption Catholic Church followed by burial at Truckee Tahoe Cemetery. Reception to be held immediately following burial, address TBA.
