RENO, Nev.- On November 28, 2025, the Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, responded to a fatal crash on State Route 431 near Douglas Fir Drive in Washoe County, Nevada.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a GMC Terrain was traveling westbound on State Route 431 in the westbound travel lane. A bicyclist was also traveling westbound on State Route 431 in the paved outside shoulder of State Route 431. The driver of the GMC failed to maintain the westbound travel lane and entered the shoulder, striking the bicyclist.
The bicyclist, James Booth, a 42-year-old male from Lafayette, California was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel.
The driver of the GMC was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating this crash.
