No Kings IV Vote Early rally to take place at Lakeview Commons this weekend

No Kings IV will be held at Lakeview Commons on Saturday, Oct 17 at 1 p.m.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A No Kings IV Vote Early march and rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17, at Lakeview Commons Plaza. 

The rally will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a march from Lakeview Commons to the ballot box at 3 p.m. Organizers encourage attendees to bring their completed ballots to the ballot drop box at the El Dorado County Library – South Lake Tahoe branch. 

“The specific goal for this event is to get people mobilized, get them outside, get them joined up with fellow people that think the same way, and really just show that there’s people that care about democracy and are willing to stand up and march for it,” said Beck Machin-Ward, founder and chairman of the Young Democrats Committee at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC).

Voter registration and voter status checks will be available at the event, in addition to daily voter registration events occurring at LTCC every day through Monday, organized by the Young Democrats Committee. 

“One thing we’ve noticed, just because of how large California is and how spread thin all of the election boards are, there’s not too many natural opportunities for people to check their status and to register online or register through filling out one of the paper registration forms,” added Machin-Ward. “So every opportunity that we have to give that to the people in South Lake, we’re definitely gonna take.”

Due to the ongoing El Dorado Beach/Lakeview Commons improvement project, the Commons parking lot may be closed. Construction is anticipated through October 15 but may potentially extend depending on progress, weather, and permitting. Attendees should plan to park legally on surrounding neighborhood streets and walk to Lakeview Commons.

The event, hosted by 50501 Tahoe, Tahoe Resistance Alliance, Young Democrats Committee of LTCC and South Lake Tahoe Indivisible, marks the fourth No Kings rally seen in South Lake Tahoe, with previous rallies drawing in hundreds.
