It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Maria Voltl at the age of 96. Maria was born Sept 27, 1929 in Pfiferahof, Germany, daughter of Max and Maria Schmoller.
Maria came to the US by boat in 1956 at the age of 27, she had always dreamed of coming to America to live the American dream. In 1957 she married Siegfried Voltl Sr. they were married for 26 years. Maria was a go getter working hard to achieve the American dream. Maria fulfilled that dream in Long Grove Ill. She successfully ran a restaurant called the peppermint stick for 11 years before selling and moving west to Lake Tahoe NV. she purchased the Mcfaul building in Zephyr Cove NV.
Maria was a world traveler from hiking in Napal, Heli skiing in New Zealand and walking the great wall of China. On top of visiting many counties she loved to travel in her motor home. Some memorable places were Alaska with her grandson, up and down west coast with daughter in laws Julie and Kim and going to Arizona to meet up with longtime friends. Latter in life one of her favorite pass times was going to the thrift stores contributing many items but never leaving empty handed.
In addition to her parents she was proceeded by her brothers Max, Franz, Hubert and Georg Schmoller. And sisters Irmgard and Christine. Daughter in law Julie Voltl. Maria is survived by her sons Mike and Sieg Voltl, daughter in law Kim Voltl, grand-kids Chris and Joey Voltl, Amanda and Lindsey Schneider and great grand-kids Jaxson and Frank Schneider, and many nephew, nieces and friends.
We let go a remarkable woman, a loving mother, a dedicated grandmother, and a kind soul, as we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life of joy, kindness which were the essence of Maria’s life.
