August 7, 1931 – June 20, 2026
Rose peacefully passed away at the age of 94 surrounded by her four children, Claudette, Madeleine, Jacqueline and Desmond and grandson, George.
Born in British Columbia, Canada, Rose and her French speaking parents moved to Los Angeles, CA when Rose was only four years old. When Rose started kindergarten, she didn’t know how to speak English, and when she was in high school her parents took her to the French Speaking Club in Los Angeles which is where she met her husband, Clair Valentino Parenteau.
Married for 59 years until her husband’s passing in 2011, they had a wonderful life together. All four of their children were born in Claremont, CA , and the family moved to Perth, Australia for six years when Rose’s husband took a construction contract. When the contract ended the family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where they had a family hardware-lumber retail business. During this time they had a second home “cabin” in South Lake Tahoe and all moved here permanently in 2000.
Rose and her husband traveled and saw the world together and were always happy to return home to the beauty of Lake Tahoe.
Rose is survived by her four children, four grandchildren, George, Chanelle, Preston and Fabi, and five great grandchildren, son-in-law, Larry, daughter-in-law Deborah, and her Tahoe “son” Marc as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rose was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother who will be in our hearts forever and is now with the gentle breezes of the mountains she loved so much.
