DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating two injury crashes that occurred over the weekend on U.S. 50 near the Spooner Lake recreation area.

At approximately 1:22 p.m. on Saturday, the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a report of a two-vehicle injury crash on U.S. 50 at State Route 28.

The two-vehicle crash involved an SUV and a pickup truck. One person with serious injuries was transported by air ambulance to a local area hospital. Seven additional people were transported by ground ambulance to local area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both U.S.-50 eastbound and westbound at State Route 28 were reduced to one travel lane.

On Sunday, traffic was also reduced to one lane in both directions after a head-on crash around 7:27 p.m. on U.S. 50 between Glenbrook Rd. and State Route 28, west of the Spooner Lake recreation area.

This two-vehicle crash involved an SUV and a sedan. Two persons with serious injuries were transported by air ambulances to a local area hospital. One person was transported by ground ambulance to a local area hospital with unknown injuries.

Driver impairment is suspected as a factor in this crash.
