It may have a ways to go before becoming “Miracle March,” but the month got off to a great start Thursday, when Tahoe-area resorts received nearly 3 feet of new snow.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort received 3 feet of new snow in 24 hours, Kevin “Coop” Cooper, senior communications manager for Kirkwood and Heavenly Mountain resorts, tweeted Friday morning. In the same tweet, Cooper said Heavenly reported 30 inches of new snow.

Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village reported receiving 28 inches of snow in 48 hours on Friday morning — although most, if not all, of that fell Thursday and Friday morning.

Sierra-at-Tahoe reported 22 inches of new snow at its summit in 24 hours Friday morning. The resort reported 20 inches at its base. The slim discrepancy between the summit total and base total shows how low snow-level has dropped during this storm.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday.

This story has been updated to include snow totals from Kirkwood and Heavenly Mountain resorts.
