LAKE TAHOE, Nev/Calif. – A heat wave is forecasted for the Greater Lake Tahoe area and surrounding valleys starting Friday.
Temperatures are expected to approach the 90s in Truckee, Kings Beach and other Tahoe regions.
Triple digits are expected in the valleys surrounding Lake Tahoe, including Sacramento, Carson City and Reno.
These elevated temperatures are forecasted through next weekend.
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a formal heat advisory for regions east and south of Reno, including Fallon.

The Tahoe region notoriously receives a large influx of visitors as temperatures rise.
A 2023 study found that for every additional 10-degree surge in temperature, traffic flows increase by approximately 1,200 vehicles over two entry points into the Lake Tahoe Basin. Those numbers increase to over 1,400 when temperatures are over 100 degrees.
The National Weather Service reminds individuals to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned space, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
