INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – Special master E. Alan Tiras has certified election results for the Club Tahoe Resort Owners’ Association.
The former Justice of the Peace in Incline Village–Crystal Bay was appointed to oversee a new board election in April after a Washoe County district judge found the disputes between timeshare owners and the association board members at the time warranted intervention.
Disputes over the 50-year-old Lake Tahoe timeshare involved prior board election challenges, recall attempts and a successor election.
Tiras oversaw a new election on Oct. 17. The election not only established new association board members, but also the board size.
The timeshare owners overwhelmingly voted for a 5-person board of directors, reducing it from seven.
The newly elected board also overwhelmingly includes members of a group called Save Club Tahoe, a cohort of timeshare owners who organized to challenge the former board’s actions.
The newly elected board members are Brian Arnold, Dina Fitch, Gloria DeAlba, Keith Ogden and Robert Payton.
Tiras has set the first meeting of the new board for Nov. 5 to elect officers and address association business. The special master’s role will then conclude.
Litigation regarding former board actions is still active and includes allegations that board members used association-owned weeks to vote themselves in, transferred weeks to a board member without payment, and entered into an unauthorized contract with a management company, as well as allegations of financial mishandling, failure to maintain the property, and other allegations.
