Stateline casinos continue winning streak
The Stateline casinos continued their winning streak, bringing in $39.6 million during July, and increase of 5.13 percent over the same month in 2025.
The month opens the fiscal year so that’s also the take for the year.
Stateline generates most of Douglas County’s gambling revenue.
East Fork and Carson City casinos brought in a combined total of $12.54 million, a 1.14-percent increase for the year.
Douglas County merchants had a good fiscal year as well, bringing in a total of $1.24 billion in taxable sales, up 6.44 percent over the prior year.
The report for June, the last month of the fiscal year, reported taxable sales of $118.3 million.
General merchandise stores, which include both county Walmarts and the Target, brought in $25.24 million during June, up 11.35 percent.
Food services and drinking places, which is mostly generated at Stateline, brought in $13.3 million during June, up 7.65 percent.
Accommodations were up 52.74 percent for the month of June, bringing the year increase up to 7.67 percent.
Both merchant wholesalers of durable goods and building materials and garden supplies were down in June. Wholesalers took a 4.91 percent hit in the month. Building materials were down 7.99 percent to $7.7 million.
Besides accommodations, there were two other double digit increases among the top 10 sales categories.
Sporting goods, hobby and musical instruments brought in $6 million, up 37.56 percent while motor vehicle and parts dealers were up 59.38 percent to $5.7 million. The large increases sometimes indicate there was a correction from previous months.
